the earth day celebration 2009 was in full bloom in the south bay on april 5th as little sprouts danced and played the afternoon away with their mamas & poppas. we gave away packets of marigold seeds for families to plant and brighten mama earth. catch a glimpse of this of this groovy 'earth play' event thru the lens of auey santos and her photograffiti team. every day is earth day... laugh, grow, and play!

go green and join the freecycle network to do your part to celebrate earth day as a family! freecycle is the place to give a little, get a little, or borrow something such as a baby book, stroller, sling, etc. it’s definitely a great resource for local families who are expecting or just welcomed a new addition! the freecycle network is made up of 4,688 groups with 6,509,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. it's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. each local group is moderated by a local volunteer. membership is free, so sign up and help do your part to change the world, one gift at a time.

starting in march, you can be the first to cuddle up with the first baby animals of the season! welcome hidden villa’s newest additions on a special tour and learn fun facts about baby farm animals. open to  all ages! Also, be sure to sign up for the preschool or toddler series to get a chance to bury your hands in sheep's wool, throw corn to the chickens, and so much more! just be prepared to get dirty! space is limited, register early!

juguemos en español is a fun new way to learn the spanish language with a different theme each and every week! bring mommy, daddy or nana along and come have some fun with a live puppet show, books, fun games, music instruments, sing-a-longs, colors, shapes, numbers, and so much more—all in español! my 2-year-old absolutely loved her first trial class (and is usually not the “circle time” type ), she found the puppet show very amusing and was engaged the entire time! i was so impressed with how well she and the other kiddos were able to pronounce words like “refrigerador,” “tijeras,” and “galleta.” also, a few kiddos were able to read in spanish too! i belive this particular class ranges from 2 to 7 years. we are definitely looking forward to next week’s class! and hope to see you there too! first class is always free, click here!

you’ll love this low-key, kid-friendly restaurant we recently came across--Galzaar halaal restaurant & bakery! from fresh hummus served with freshly baked pita bread, delicious chicken biryani, yummy samosas to lentil soup to feta veggie flatbread served with a delicious yogurt sauce to go with your favorite mango lassi yogurt drink! And don’t forget your baklava! You and your tiny tot are sure to have a feast and all for a very reasonable price! Eating out never sounded this good! we’re passing along some very important information regarding lead in toys, the lead program in conjunction with environmental health, the san mateo county office of education, state preschool program and the centers for environmental health are offering free toy testing, display tables regarding lead in toys, lead in mexican candies, and free lead testing for children, who have not been tested in the past year. this event will take place on saturday, feb. 28th at the san mateo county office of education at 101 twin dolphin drive, redwood city, ca, from 11:30 - 2:30 pm. who let the lead out?

full circle farm is an 11-acre non-profit, educational farm right in the heart of the silicon valley! they are a group of volunteers, who are helping to add fresh food in the santa clara unified school district cafeterias. they also offer several local programs aimed for 6th to 8th graders and teenagers to help our youth experience success while they develop job and life skills through the growing, harvesting and marketing of fruit & vegetable crops. shop for your fresh, organic produce and support a great cause! learning to grow has never been so cool!
